Tahniah Salma, tahniah Erra Fazira!

Indahnya Tengahari Di Padang Temu

Majlis Perkahwinan Adik Aidil

Tengok tu, signature pose from Nazrol. Kau mampu? Hehehe, jangan marah Nazrol.

Aidil, adik kau memang iras-iras kau. Ya lah, namapun adik beradik kan!

Al-fatihah for victims of Hulu Langat landslide

I would like to offer my heartfelt condolence to the families of the victims of Hulu Langat Landslide. Be strong and may Allah bless their souls and place them amongst His believers. Al-fatihah.

Orphanage landslide death toll now 16

Search and rescue personnel deploy a tracker dog in their efforts to find trapped victims. — Picture by Choo Choy MayKUALA LUMPUR, May 22 — Sixteen people are now believed to have been killed in yesterday’s deadly landslide at the Al-Taqwa orphanage in Hulu Langat, after four more lifeless bodies were uncovered by rescuers this morning.
The orphanage was nearly buried in a landslide yesterday afternoon and authorities have been scrambling to save victims trapped underneath the rubble and mud. The nine remaining survivors have been rescued.
The names of the dead victims and their age are as follows: Mohd Kamarul Amizan, 11; Nurahimi Rosdi, 14; Dzahir Haziq M. Muin, 11; Ahmad Lokman Hakim, 11; Farid Ibrahim, 34; Mohd Azrel Azahari, 8; Wan Ahmad Hasril Hazim, 19; Zahid Assawal Zamri, 19; Mohd Mustakim Mamat, 12; Mohd Naerzein M. Nor, 8; Mohd Aiman Abdullah, 10; Shahrul Nurimran Adnan, 9; Mohd Zaim Azahawi, 14; Mohd Imal Fahad, 9; Mohd Riezman Ab Latif, 9; and Mohd Hazim Sapri, 10.
Eight of the nine survivors — Aizat Khusuiri, 12; Allaudin Sobri, 14; M. Syatiq Ibrahim, 21; Khairul Anuar Nasri, 9; M. Harris Izuddin Sharul, 11; Zulkhairi Aminuddin; Izzuddin Abdullah; and Izuan Zakaria, 33 — are being treated at Hospital Ampang.
The ninth, 10-year-old Mohd Akmal Mohd Jefri, is receiving care at KPJ Kajang Specialist Centre.

Twenty-five people were trapped following the landslide yesterday and all have either been rescued or recovered.Kajang OCPD Ab Rashid Wahab said there were 49 residents at the orphanage yesterday, 24 of whom escaped injuries.
“Twenty-four were inside the house. They were inside washing the plates and cleaning up (when the landslide hit),” Rashid told The Malaysian Insider today.
“The landslide hit the tent outside. They were just having their lunch,” he said.
Rashid said rescuers had to dig through rubble and debris 14 feet high from 2.15pm yesterday until they recovered the last body at 5.05am today.
The policeman noted that one warden had died while three wardens survived the landslide that struck the 15-year-old orphanage for boys.
Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Wira Chor Chee Heung said the orphanage had not applied for building plans from the local council as it was built on farming land.
“It was never within the jurisdiction of the local council. This is an old development that took place 15 years ago,” Chor told reporters under a makeshift tent near the site today.
“Now we’re hoping that those living on farming land... although there... is no requirement to apply from the local council, we encourage them (to do so),” he added.
Selangor housing and local government committee chief Ronnie Liu noted that the orphanage was built near a hill slope of 80 degrees.
Chor said hill slope development guidelines, which were drafted in 2006, stated that buildings could not be built near hill slopes of 70 degrees or above.
“If there are plans to build a house near the foot of the hill, they have to follow conditions. There must be engineering solutions,” said Chor, giving an example of retaining walls that are built to hold back ground which would otherwise move downwards.
“We will wait for a detailed investigation from JKR (Public Works Department),” he added, when asked if action would be taken against the orphanage owner.
Liu said the Selangor government would encourage those who intended to construct buildings on farming land to apply for building plans from the respective local councils.
“But it’s not compulsory,” admitted the Selangor state executive councillor.
The orphanage is linked to the town area of Batu 14 Hulu Langat through narrow muddy roads.
Seven bodies will be buried in the Dusun Nanding Muslim Cemetery here this afternoon.
The other nine have been taken by their family members for burial in their respective hometowns.

Subsidi, oh Subsidi

IPP subsidies under review
By Lee Wei Lian
May 19, 2011

Najib was asked to slash subsidies to IPPs before honing in on consumer subsidies. — file picKUALA LUMPUR, May 19 — The controversial gas subsidies for independent power producers (IPPs) are under review but no decision has been made yet, said Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Mohamad Hanadzlah today.
“We have done a discussion and study under the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, EPU (Economic Planning Unit) and myself,” Husni told reporters at the sidelines of the 15th Malaysia Banking Summit today when asked if the subsidies will be relooked at. “We have to wait for the decision.”
The issue of gas subsidies is also a controversial one as the prime beneficiaries are seen to be the IPPs, many of which are highly profitable and perceived to be controlled by politically-favoured parties.
DAP recently urged the Najib administration to first cut billion-ringgit subsidies for IPPs rather than burden the people with subsidy cuts on essential items
“Remove the big opium of gas subsidies that can save tens of billions of ringgit annually before dealing with the opiate for the masses that only save hundreds of millions of ringgit,” said DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng in a statement recently.
“Why should the masses and the ordinary 27 million Malaysians be made to bear these price rises when the few big corporate giants in the IPPs do not suffer a single cent in gas subsidies cuts?”
DAP publicity chief Tony Pua added that the government must take action against “fat crony companies” like IPPs if it wished to reduce subsidy burden, as last year’s five-in-one subsidy cut would only save RM750 million while a 20 per cent cut in subsidies to IPPs would save RM3.6 billion.
The Petaling Jaya MP said while there was no doubt that the cost would be passed on to consumers, unfair contracts signed between the government the IPPs meant that electricity tariffs should be at least 26 per cent cheaper based on comparison to international rates
He said that based on Petronas annual reports, gas subsidies granted to IPPs amounted to RM8.1 billion in 2008.

Craving for cokodok

Alhamdulillah, this morning Allah answered me by 'sending' Normalis with her delicous home cooked cokodok dan yummy sambal. Alhamdulillah. Thank you,Malis.

Rezeki Hari Guru kot.

Kepada semua guru, terutama adik kesayangan, Cikgu Lia dan ingatan tulus kepada arwah Cikgu Jaafar (my late grandfather), "Selamat Hari Guru". Kalian adalah sumber inspirasi diri ini. Hanya Allah bisa membalas jasamu.

Teh Tarik

Dah lama tak pekena teh tarik. Tiba-tiba mengidam lak. Seperti Din, aku pun macam tak nak makan tengahari sebab I took heavy breakfast this morning.

Tapi macam lain sikit teh tarik ini. Kurang manis, tak macam dulu-dulu. Kalau nak jumpa teh tarik ni, datang ke Medan Selera Kupang. Gerai nombor 8.

Jom

I spotted this poster in the LRT, on my way to work.

Cegah sebelum terlambat.

Tiba-tiba inspired untuk mula balik my work-life balance regime. Jom kawan-kawan... Kita halusi apa yang dimakan dan diminum. Kita banyakkan berjalan dan berjogging.

Pasal berjalan, tak menjadi masalah sebab aku tiap-tiap hari berjalan dari stesen LRT Bandaraya ke pejabat. Adalah, kurang lebih 1.2km. Jogging?

******************************************************************

Majoriti ADUN Melaka gemuk
Elissa Helmy May 9, 11 1:52pm

Hehehe, isn't this cute!

As long as it promotes healthy political culture in my beloved country, I'm all for creativity and paradigm shift in politics.

Yeap, the one next to the bus station.

"Apa si Lan buat kat sini," betak hati kecilku.

Tapi bila aku amati betul-betul, bukan. Bukannya Hazlan. Another sepanduk dua serupa of my youngest brother. So, far I've met two - another one in Thailand.

Thanks guys for a good weekend!

I really had a great time there with you guys. Jangan serik untuk ajak lagi. You guys rock!

Jom Jalan-Jalan IV

LOOK WHAT THEY MAKE ME WATCHING ON MY HOLIDAY, GLEE! I don't know why I'm still unable to have connection with this series. I still think it is over-rated.

We're well fed here. Makan, berenang, makan, berenang. Aiyo... naik berat badan lah macam ini.

Jom Jalan-Jalan III

Yes, really a good for a good vacation. I love long beach!

Buffet!

Tepat jam 2.30 petang, kami bersiap sedia for our first snorkeling session.

Jom Jalan-Jalan II

Kuala Terengganu is one of my two favourite cities in Malaysia. Another one is Kuching. And this is my fourth time to the capital state of Terengganu.

However, for this visit, Kuala Terengganu only serves as my transit point for Redang Island. Islands in this part of Malaysia have long known as its natural picturesque beauty, crystal clear water, white beaches and stunning coral and marine life.

So far, I've been to two east coast islands, namely, Perhentian Island (when I took my scuba diving license in 2009) and Tioman Island. Between the two, I prefer Perhentian Island much more because the existence of long beach. I'm not sure whether or not, there is long beach in Tioman, or maybe the resort I gone to in 2010 was located in the part of Tioman Island which does not have long beach. I love to strong along a beach, therefore, a long beach is really a plus point!

I really looking forward to this trip because I heard so much of good reviews on this island. Even my cousin, Nazrol, ranked Redang Island as the best island in east coast Malaysia.

So, don't forget to wish me luck while I wish you guys a productive and enjoyable weekend. Will upload the pictures once I returned from my long weekend. Adios.

Jom Jalan-Jalan
