Qurban: a spiritual celebration

Selamat Menjalani Ibadah Puasa
Today is the third day of Ramadhan, and I hope it is not too late to wish all Muslims, "Selamat menjalani ibadah puasa".
Would like to take this opportunity to seek forgiveness from all if I have hurt/offended, either intentionally or unintentionally.
Alhamdulillah. And to Mus, "Get well soon".

No more excuses, girls!
If you can run, you definite can run!
Introducing... Roqaya al Ghasara, a 25 year old sprinter from Bahrain, who outperformed world class athletes, former World Championship silver medalist, Susanthika Jayasinghe of Sri Lanka and Europeran champion, Muriel Hurtis-Houairi of France in heat two of the second-round of 200 meter event today.

"Wearing the hijab shows that there are no obstacles. I’ve set my best times wearing the hijab,” said this gold medalist of 200 meter in 2006 Asian Games.

She clocked 22.76 seconds to win her heat and will be running again tomorrow in the semi final with big names from Jamaica and the US.

While competing in full-length running suits may not a new thing in Olympic since other sprinters such as Flo-Jo and Cathy Freeman had done it in previous games. Nevertheless, Roqaya's was aimed more at conforming with religious requirement than to be aerodynamic.
I found this clip on Youtube. However, what I want to share with all of you not so much about her running. Please pay attention at the comments given by the sport commentator. He really gives Hasbullah Awang a run for his money!
Yeap, read between the lines.
p/s: I was wondering what happened to former Malaysian athletes like G. Shanti, Josephine Mary and Nordin Jadi. Where are they now? And al-fatihah to the late Rabiah Abdul Salam.

Messengers of God
The pictures that I'm going to share with you today were taken from one of the churches in Frankfurt am Main.
Let me put the record straight that I totally believe what is mentioned in the Quran and I do believe that the same fact was also in the other kitabs (books of God) i.e. Isa/Jesus (peace be upon him) is a messenger of Allah, similar to other prophets, including Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Musa/Moses (peace be upon him).

And I think this is where my belief is totally different from my Christian friends. I don't believe that Isa/Jesus (peace be upon him) died on the cross because I find it a dicredit to his prophethood. In fact, according to the Bible of Barnabas: "The face of Yehuda who led the soldiers to arrest Christ was transfigured into that of Christ who had been rescued by the Angels through the window to the third Heaven." And this is also confirmed in the Quran. Click here if you want to learn more about this.

Brothers and Sisters
I was really touched by the sermon given at last week's Friday prayer. Although I have heard the gist of it at a couple of mosques in Malaysia, in both forms - Friday khutbah and ceramah, but the one that I heard recently impacted me so much.
It was about brotherhood (and of course, sisterhood too!) and its importance.
It is reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Let not any one of you desert his brother more than three days. They meet and each of them turns away from the other; but the best of the two is the one who starts with the salutation of peace.
The moment I heard the said hadith, spontaneously I remember the four people that I am not in good terms with - LAMS, SRSI, MYR and NMMY.
The imam continued talking about how syaitan manipulated a man's ego, to make him forsaking his brother in faith for more than three days. One of its ways is to forgive but not to forget.
I am sure most of us know about this but somehow or rather, it continues to happen again and again. Well, I guess enough said (if you would like to read more, kindly click this article which was published on IslamOnline.net), lets practise it.
Since I am far away from home, I am going to send an email to each one of them. I am going to apologise for any wrongdoings and to inform them that I forgive and forget any of their wrongdoings to me. Also, I would like to wish them all the best in their future undertakings and may Allah bless all of us with more rahmat, berkat and joy. Aamin.
Yes... the theme for this week is to forgive and to forget. And don't forget to wish me luck!
